Beauty is due more to harmonious relationships among the elements of a composition than to the elements themselves.
Architects live by the rules of relationship. An understanding that an individual form alone is not what creates success but rather the dialog of one form to the next. Finding and creating harmony even among different movements.
I wonder if Jesus had a similar truth in mind when he spoke of building his church. A movement where no one stands alone but side by side with many. Diverse and imperfect but when harmonized by love, beautiful.
The composition of our own lives speaks to this movement. And not simply our relationships but how we relate. To our husbands, wives, co-workers, church-goers, neighbors, strangers.
We are each part of a larger narrative, a greater building. Representing the story of by the way we share space with one another. With those beside us. My prayer is that when looked upon we would represent the architect well.
Our relationship with each other is the criterion the world uses to judge whether our message is truthful - Christian community is the final apologetic. ~ Francis Schraeffer
